a British charity whose activities are concerned with the disease AIDS. It was established in 1982, when the first cases of AIDS were beginning to appear in Britain, and took its name from one of the first people to die of the disease. It aims to provide care and support for people suffering from AIDS, to give information and advice to prevent the disease from spreading, and to make the public more aware of the problem of AIDS.
